Mid Year Exam, Day 5

After a few days, most of us were back to school to brace ourselves for the most difficult language paper (to me) --- Malay.

So in the morning we talked about the scope of the test. My malay teacher didn't give us all the notes for the exam. In fact, he didn't teach at all and yet he expected us to sit for the test without his teaching. Did he really think we could study all by ourselves?

If we could study without teacher's aid, why were we in school and why did you whine when we didn't do your homework?

What's the point of having this type of teacher in this school. He didn't even deserve to be called a teacher!

MSEG...... YOU ARE AN IDIOT!!!! 4S3 HATE YOU!! YOU ARE THE JUNK IN OUR SCHOOL!

If you think I'm exaggerating, go and ask any 4S3 students.

Okay....I got carried away....

Back to the topic, the first paper was Malay paper 1. After writing two exams for more than one hour, my hand had begun to pain. Not only me, many of my friends were having the same problem. But we endured it because we still had another paper.

As my numskull teacher didn't teach any about novels, we had to study all by our own. We were panicked, including me, that we had lost our appetite to eat.

So paper 2 was only okay. Novel was easy, at least I could write some points. But whether it was acceptable....well...that depended on my garbage teacher.
.
I couldn't answer some of the questions in literature, and the peribahasa and few kosa-kata that needed us to bina ayat. So overall the paper was only okay. Whether it fail or pass is, again, depended on my stupid teacher.

That's all for today. Next papers: English paper 1 and 2, Sivik.

Queensbay

Friday was Wesak Day. As it was a holiday and I wanted to relax after a few uneventful days, and to bring my sister out for shopping, we went to Queensbay Mall in Penang to shop.

Call it window shopping, as we were just there browsing clothes and books without any intention of buying anything. The price was exorbitant. We couldn't afford them.

So first we had our lunch - Nando's. I quarelled with my father for a moment. He was too stingy to buy two cups of drinks and he thought he was so smart so he ordered one cup of "bottomless Ice Lemon Tea". As it was bottomless, he said we just needed one cup and we shared it. I told him it was a stupid idea because the Nando's couldn't possibly allow this. He thought he was smart and it was a brilliant idea and so he remained adament. I insisted I was right because if I was a worker there I wouldn't allow this. So he kept quiet when the waitress told him we could only refilled the drink twice because we were sharing the cup. The bottomless meant for one cup per person.

So at last I proved that he was wrong.

I enjoyed the ineffable meal. The peri-peri tasted nice and I tried all the spices there. The tomato sauce was good. I didn't try the 'garlic' peri-peri as I despised garlic. I tried both 'hot' and 'extra hot' peri-peri. I preferred extra-hot, but it was not too spicy for me. I tried the black pepper, but it tasted normal, nothing outstanding. I tasted the salt but I tasted no salty.

My father, however, said the food was insipid. He just liked to spoil our mood.

Then we seperated and we did our own shopping. My father went to indulge himself in his own fantasy about his own chimerical houses that he knew he couldn't buy while my mother and sister went to look at girl stuffs which they had no intention to buy because they only enjoyed window shopping.

So I went to Popular to look for the newest version of True Singapore Ghost Stories. I learnt that the newest version, book 20, had been released and I wanted to buy it because I was an avid fan of the book. The book never failed to bored me. I couldn't find the book in Popular, so I went to Borders instead. At first I couldn't find the book anywhere but then I chanced on a chinese book. Since I had about two hours more, I decided to finish the book there.

.

And I did. Surprisingly. And I endeavoured not to buy the Starbuck Coffee there because I would be overdose with caffein. But the coffee was luring so I sat far away from the coffee shop.

.

So after finishing the book and almost frozen to death (the air-conditioner was freezing there), I searched the entire bookstore, high and low, for any trace of Singapore-produced storybook. I couldn't find it after I walked a few rounds. I nearly sought help from the people there until my eyes locked on the books on the bookshelves. Only about 6 books of the newest version left, so I immediately grabbed one and paid for it.

.

After exiting Borders my entire body thawed. We went shopping around again and then we finally left the building on 3.30pm.

Alright, time to bestir myself. Gaities are after my mid-year exam, so I better gird up my loins to revise now for the coming exam. Next papers: Malay paper 1 and 2.

Mid Year Exam, Day 4

Day 4----the day our nightmares came true.
The first paper of the day: Biology. Before the paper started I heard people discussing how late they went to sleep. I eavesdropped actually, but who cared? I still listened to what they were talking.

And here are the outcomes: Some slept on 12.30am, some slept on 2.00am, some slept on 4.00am. If you sleep at 4.00am, what the point of sleeping?

So Biology was quite okay for me. I wouldn't say I would get an A, but I'm quite sure I won't fail. I wrote down whatever that I could remember, including some jargon that I chanced on looking on the internet and would probably baffle the teacher.

So after the paper most of us sighed, at least one of the difficult papers were gone.

The second paper of the day: SEJARAH!! And it's PAPER 2!!! We had only one hour after the Biology paper so many people were reading the sejarah notes. I thumbed through the notes to look for important points. I had ploughed through it earlier, I wasn't planning to overdose myself with boredom again.

When the paper started, all the nerve impulses in my body ran amok and out of control. I could remember nothing but how to write my name.

After the papers were collected, all of us were complaining. But I was mentally prepared, so I wasn't very crestfallen.

So two killer subjects gone. Starting today all of us would be relaxing. Not because the exam is over, but because the papers left were languages and Modern Maths. There are nothing for us to read.

So, let your hair down (although my hair are too short to be let down) and take in fresh air outside the house. And congratulate yourself from surviving the nightmarish day. hahaha! ^^

Mid Year Exam, Day 3

The first paper for the day: the terrifying Additional Mathematics.

While most of us were mentally prepared for the paper, we were still nervous. Try to imagine what will happen to you if thousands of butterflies were flying in your stomach.

So I was quite prepared for Add.Maths. I never said I had a flair on Maths, but I did enough exercise for me to sit for the test. Around 7.45am the paper started.

They were 18 questions. The moment I saw the first page, my head were spinning and I almost puke. The equations were so complicated. I thought I had enough time to finish the paper so I did all the questions slowly and carefully. When I had solved until the third question I realised I had spent 30 minutes on the first three questions!

WTF!!

Anyway after that I began to rush, so I was sure I had made many mistakes. I don't know what mistakes I had done, but I always made mistakes.

After the paper many people were complaining how hard the paper was. Me too. I remembered question 9 very clearly. I couldn't get the answer by steps but I got the answer from the calculator by luck. I just pressed a number '5' and substitue it into the 'n' inside the equation, and turned out 5 is the correct answer!

Luck was on my side! hahaha~~

But then I couldn't show the answer. I did the question 6 times and I got six answers...(=='''). Eventually I gave up and just wrote 'n=5' on the paper. At least I got one mark. ^^

Second paper on the day: Chemistry. I was quite sanguine about the paper because I had done enough preparation. So the paper for me was only moderate. Not too difficult because I could solve many of the questions, but not too easy because I couldn't answer the last part of the question (only the labelled diagram part) and the question about inert gases. Others than that I guess I was fine.

But please, don't fail! Rumours said form 4 students would never know what mistakes they did, because most of them seemed to be correct.

All the papers today involved calculation, but I bet that are still people who didn't bring calculator to school. haha!
By the way, tell me if my blog is still dull. Thanks. ^^

Mid Year Exam, Day 2

Who was nervous? I was not. I didn't know why, I always act this way.

First paper of the day: the deemed useless subject IT. All we needed to get was a mere 10 marks in order to get a pass as most of us had got the other 50 marks from the practical test.

The test paper was an hour's long. 20 minutes after the paper started, most of them began to drift off. Everyone around me was sleeping and I felt incongruous to be awake (my mentality is weird....), so I tried to sleep but I never really slept.

After the paper ended, none of us bothered to talk about the paper, as it wasn't even a subject we are taking in SPM.

So all of us were studying hard for the Physics paper, which set to be on 11.00am to 1.30pm. 2 hours and 30 minutes for us to answer 20 objectives questions and 5 subjective questions. Imagine how difficult could the questions be.

But none of us really paid attention to study. I was talking to ZJ, KW and Raymond about Ninja Saga. The game is now famous among Scouts, and I was 'tricked' to play the game. With a target, I'm sure I'll play well. Anyway the topic sprang up and so we discussed about it for few minutes.

Next paper on the day: Physics. I thought the paper was easy. I was looking through the objective questions and I was sure I wouldn't stumble upon any difficulties, until I was numbed by the paralytic term in the paper. Especially the ....errm....I forgot the term......in Physics and I lost 20 marks there. 20 marks!!

I hate HSF!!

And I regretted I didn't read GCL's notes. Another...about 8 marks gone.

Arr....I'm sure to have failed my Physics.....Sad..

Stay tuned to view my third post about Mid Year. By the way, the second part of "Grandma" will be posted later.

Mid Year Exam, Day 1

None of us likes exam. Whoever loves exam must be a maniac.

Mid year examination has caused many students to be burdened with unrelenting stress, and most of them would attend tuition classes, doing exercises, abandoning their facebook account and many more things that could do. Not me.

I couldn't leave computer. Computer is part of my life, why should I abandon it?

Anyway there was only one paper today--the useless Pendidikan Moral. The paper was on 12.10pm, which meant we had about 6 hours to prepare for the exam.

Could you imagine that? 6 hours of preparation?

But most of us were jabbering and bantering. Some studied other subjects. Some played truant. Some slept in the class. Many things else. I didn't need to use the whole morning to memorise the 23 nilai. So I chit-chat with my friends.

The paper was moderate. Not too hard, not too easy, but a bit tricky. I wouldn't dare say I would get an A, but I know I would not fail. If I did fail, I must brush up on my Moral.

Next papers: IT and Physics. Stay tuned to my second post about my mid-year exam.

Busy

I am burdened with tons of books recently. Exam is around the corner and I dare not slack for a moment. Actually I did, but the only thing I did was sleeping.

OK. It's gonna be a short post.

My friend tells me my blog is dull because I write everything in a proper way. Improper way would mean singlish or maybe conversational. So I gonna heed his advice to update my blog with improper language and making it conversational as possible. But maybe less singlish.

I'm changing my blog skin later. Stay tuned to find yourself in a world of fantasy.

Grandma, part 1

I received that terrible news Wednesday afternoon. Immediately I was sent back home to go to Sitiawan to accompany my grandmother for the very last time.

Doctors had given up hope trying to save her. They said her condition was way too bad and we should be prepared for the worst. I pitied my uncle, it was his birthday.

My grandma's three sons were discussing about how they should deal with their mother, I detached myself from that and went to look for my 7-year-old childish, naive and boisterous cousin. He was so naive, he didn't know what happened and he could still enjoy the day and play around happily.

Nothing much happened on Wednesday afternoon. All of us were staying at her bedside, trying to accompany her. She was suffering very badly. I guess her internal organs had been damaged severely. It pained look at her.

That was the first day. I was wiped out so I hit the sack early.

Second day, my father decided to buy a pair of new shoes so that my grandmother can wear it while she was laid into the coffin. Only few minutes after we left, she died. She died just minutes we left.

But after all, we knew why she was so persistent to stay in this world until the second day. She was waiting for someone, someone she wanted to meet very badly, someone who meant something to her, and that was my brother's sister, who had gone astray many years ago. Surprisingly she turned up and visited my grandmother for the last time.

She was adopted. She granted my grandmother's last wish. Few hours after she visited my grandmother, my grandmother passed away.

Back From Funeral

Wednesday afternoon, my mother came to my school to look for me to deliver me a bad news: my grandmother was in extremely bad condition and the doctors had given up hope trying to save her. I was then told to go back to Sitiawan to accompany her for the last time.

And therefore, I was absent from school on Thursday and Friday. (skip lisan......)

I just got back, still tired from the journey. I'll elaborate more later.

My cousins had recovered from H1N1. My youngest cousin was confirmed clinically and had taken her medication. She always cried when she had to take her medication. My second cousin was not confirmed clinically, but symptoms matched and it was very likely she was down with H1N1 too.

I should be quarantined actually. But they showed no more symptoms.........just pray that I won't be infected.

H1N1

My cousin, Jia Yi, is down with H1N1!

My uncle has no idea how she picks the virus up, but to contain the virus the entire family has been quarantined. My cousin who is only 5 years old has been confirmed to have been infected by Influenza A(H1N1) today and she is now suffering from fever.

Imagine that--a 5-year-old young, delicate girl infected with deadly virus. I'm worried about her.

My uncle tells me my another cousin, Jia Jing, is now having fever. It's very possible that he too has been infected by H1N1.

To make situation worse, my grandmother is found unconscious in her room and she is now hospitalised and warded in ER.

I pity my uncle. He already has his children to be worried about. His deteriorating mother exacerbates everything and gives him more stress than he could take.

I hope my cousins and my grandmother will pull through. Please fight the virus with all your strength, don't give up!

Science and Maths Week, Day 2 and 3

Day 2-Wednesday. I chose to duty from 10.50am-2.00pm because I couldn't afford to lose Chemistry lesson, although I detest that teacher. After Chemistry I was light-headed by the jargons I had not been able to decipher yet. Then Modern Maths and Add. Maths. NLL wasn't going to teach at all because sha was one of the judge for Rocket Balloon Competition. After that it was 10.10am and it was my Malay lesson. I despise MSegara's lesson so again, I left the class and started my duty (together with LCW).

Then 10.50pm and the classes that were scheduled to enter the class were 4S1-4S7. Most of my friends saw me dutying and they came to play sudoku. None of them broke the highest record. Around 1.45pm we left and ate because we had to be prepared for Maths and Science Quiz that was held in the afternoon. We went to every nook and corner to look for NLL just to get the key to DK, and I was tired after that.

Maths Society members were invigilating the students in DK1 which Science Society members were in DK2. Students in DK2 were more disciplined, which really lightened their duty.

After the quiz, we were required to mark the papers and hand in the marks. Before we finished marking, we had AGM.

Our incumbent president: LCW of 4S3 and our vice president: OQJ of 4S1.
(Sentences removed due to inflammatory content.)

I was chosen to be the treasurer of the society. I didn't really like that because I wished to be the secretary. I liked to be busy, it made me feel occupied, but I'm not capable of being the president...haha. But I took on the mantle of being the treasurer nonetheless, at least I had something to do.

The result of the quiz was unexpected. The winner from the lower secondary was a form 2 student while the winner from the upper secondary was a form 4 student. But if we were talking about the overall champion, it would be a form 2 student. She (a she!) scored 27/50, the highest mark recorded in all forms.

After that I went back home and I felt listless. So I kip and woke up to have dinner and I took all of them as I was famished.
.
Nothing much happened on the third day. We just spent the whole morning lazing around, and then around 2.30pm we officially ended our duty.
.
SM week was interesting. I loved it. How could I use words to describe how much had I learnt during SM week?
