Maths and Science Week, Day 1

It was Tuesday and it was the first day of Maths and Science Week. Or Science week only because most of the exhibitions there were scientifically related.

I arrived school around 6.55am. I went into the school hall and scrutinised what the form 5 students were intending to do. They were making balloons filled with hydrogen gas, and that balloons would be burnt by our principal. The balloons were too light and the students had to tie them on chairs. And here's something I found exceptionally interesting: KTS's laugh was unbelievably "yam". I never heard that type of laugh last year, or maybe I just didn't notice it.

During the opening ceremony, the ballons were burnt and the students were shocked by the sounds of the explosion, but after that all the students gave thunderous applause to our principal. Then the two PKs were invited to release a bottle of gas that ejected from the bottles tied on both sides of the board.

After that I started my duty. At first no one played sudoku, probably because there was another slot organising sudoku. So we had "competition" and we fought to get more "customers". Winner is yet to be determined.

Then customers began to increase and increase, and I felt happy too, at least what I had printed had not been wasted. My duty ended upon 10.50pm, but I realised NLL didn't go to school, so I stayed in the hall until 12.40pm (I cut class, I didn't want to see ACS's face so I ponteng). After that--Chemistry. I couldn't afford to lose a lesson because Chemistry was my weakest subject among the three sciences.

Around 2pm I started my duty again, and went home around 4.00pm after we had everything kept.

SM Week

Title SM stands for Science and Maths, not my classmate.......just to make it clear.

All right. Let's start from 2.20pm. I went to IT lab, sat on my chair and saw the a big "rosak" was written on top of the monitor. I was not fool (of course), but the computer was very...very slow.

After IT and met HJJ. We needed to do something which I hadn't done it before. We used the manila cards we bought and pasted them together, in order to form a bigger rectangle that would be pasted on the board, which everyone would see during the opening ceremony of SM week.

Then we realised the manila cards were not suffice. A thought came to my mind, but I threw it away because it wasn't sensible to do it. Whatever.

OQJ then joined our party and gave a helping hand (two helping hands actually), we did it quite fastly. I learnt something today: I can't draw straight lines!

We took about an hour and half to do pasting and cutting. We lacked glue and manila cards, so our mission was incomplete. But anyway, we kept the manila card (has not become 1) in the cupboard in 4S4.

The manila card could not fit in, so we did some arrangement. But then something interesting happened: the metal (which supports whatever the are put on top of it, I don't know what is that called.......) collapsed. It collapsed suddenly and I was so shocked because it fell on me. Everything it supported fell off and I got a papercut. We were shocked but yet we still manage to crack a smile.

After rearranging everything and putting the manila card inside the cupboard, we locked it and fled from 4S4 because it was already late. But then when I got home, I realised I had left my pencil box in the class.

NO!!!

Sukan Tahunan

Straight to the topic.

I went to school at 6.15am. We practised marching for about 15 minutes, which really annoyed us because we were all sweaty after that, and knowing the fact that it was early in the morning, it aggravated everything. We hate to sweat early in the morning.

Then we had to change to our full-uniform. I guess no one outside PBSM saw me wearing that, except four scouts who were standing in front of me. Then we marched into the field. I was quite sure I didn't make any mistakes, maybe the spaces weren't accurate, but I was quite sure nothing that can affect the entire group. I was the marker. I could only know what mistakes I had done, I couldn't see everyone behind me.

Then, when we reached out stop and when the commander said henti, I was supposed to stop right at the side of SM (the scout) so that it could form a straightline. I didn't know if I did stop at the right place. I just hope it did. But then on Wednesday I realised none of them actually bothered to form a line, so I guess this part was negligible.

After we stopped, our eyes were widened with fear. Two enormous speakers were positioned in front of us (pity KWW, he was standing the closest to the speakers). My ears were drumming, and I could feel my ossicles moving!!! I'm not kidding. I'm not the only one who felt that!

We left the field then, and most of the people (including me) who were standing at the front rubbed our ears. It really pained!

Then I had to change to another shirt because I needed to duty. After that one hour duty I went to chow things down, and then spending hours wasting time.

Then around 11.58am, all of us needed to go back to the field. I was asked to hold the flag because the person in charge wasn't available. I was quite nervous because I had never hold a flag. But I did.

And when we were at the field. I made MISTAKES!!! Urr I want to bang my head now! I thought I didn't have to follow the commands because I was holding the flag!! You can't blame me....I have no experience. But then I guess it weren't big mistakes.

While standing there, some of you might notice I kept my head down. That's because the speakers were right in front of me and again I could feel my ossicles drumming. I'm not kidding, I could really feel my ossicles drumming! It really hurt and my ears were really suffering!

I made mistakes at the end of the day, I wish it was forgivable.

Sukan Tahunan Rehearsal

OK. I'm not gonna post any pictures about this because I can't find anything that fits what I'm about to say and I'm also tired to post the pictures.

I went to school this morning and waited for about 30 minutes for the rehearsal to begin. It was 7.30am and all of us were gathered in front of Block B. Then we moved to the field and stood where we were told to stand at. They were just telling us where we should stand, and then we left the field and the rehearsal officially began.

PBSM always lined at the last. We marched into the field. Some of us couldn't follow the timing because the JSPO music was too loud.

Then after we stood at the place we were appointed to, we waited for the teachers to speak and the students to talk. We stood for about 30 minutes, and my legs went numb. Particularly when I was wearing a jeans, jeans made movements difficult.

Then we left the field and entered the field for the second time. My legs and hands were sore and I had no idea how much sweat I had drunk. We reached our place and waited for another 30 minutes for the teacher and principal to finish whining. Again, we left the field with questions marks. We didn't have any guarantees what we did today would be done again this Saturday, especially when new things were added.

It was around 9.30am when we dismissed. Throng dispersed and I wanted to go back to my class because I had Add.Maths lesson.

But then, NLL wasn't teaching at all.....

16/44 in my class wakil this morning. Canggih!

Wish Came True

It's Tuesday and my last two lessons were Chemistry.

I missed the previous lessons because I had to bring the books to the bilik persidangan for checking, therefore I had no clue what we were about to do. Then I was told that we were going to do an interesting experiment that was so important until TPS needed us to go to the lab very early.

We didn't object because we didn't like the lesson before Chemistry--Moral! All of us worked together to badger ACS to let us go. Finally someone butter him up and he agreed. Thank god!

That experiment was quite interesting. Each group which consist of 4 members were required to conduct an experiment that was said to be difficult to get the accurate result. My group members: Xue Xun, Shik Ming, Ivy and me.

Our experiment: To determine the empirical formula of Magnesium Oxide by combustion

My job is to open and cover the lid very fastly (with an acceleration 100000ms^-2) to ensure that oxygen can get into the crucible and prevent the magnesium oxide from diffusing into the air. I was given the hardest job. It was considered to be the hardest because I had to prevent two things from happening simultaneously. I had to admit--I never thought I had that dexterity.
.

Before we started our experiment, I threw a 5 sen coin from the chemistry lab to the fountain below. I wished that our experiment would success while throwing that coin down. And guess what! My dream did come true and our result was one of the best! You don't believe me? Ask SM, Ivy and XX.

At first we were the slowest because our crucible was the biggest. It took a longer time for the magnesium ribbon to burn. We waited until we lost our patient, and so did TPS. So she taught us to use another bunsen burner to set the magnesium ribbon on fire.

She's such a b*t*h! She had this brilliant idea and she never told us and wasted our precious time!

We got the result, and although we were the second last one to finish, our result was considered one of the best. Our result: Magnesium=1, Oxygen=1.1. Empirical formula: MgO.

Now I have discovered the treasure in our school---The Wishing Fountain!! Haha xD

Hectic

I'm having a hectic life recently. First of all, I have trouble keeping up my studies, especially Chemistry and Malay. MSegara cannot be depended upon because he is a slacker which cannot be described in words, and his lessons never fail to make me sleep. Then Chinese too. My chinese still sucks, especially the 文言文理解 part. Objective questions have been removed from paper 2, so if we don't understand the passage, we can't answer all questions. And that's what bother me.

Ok. Let's start with Wednesday (since my last post was Tuesday). The first two lessons on Wednesday were Chemistry, but I missed it because I had to bring the books for checking. Two periods gone that way and I had gone behind my friends. I'm gonna miss another two periods next Wednesday because I would be at the sukan tahunan rehearsal. (I HATE IT!!)
After book checking, it was only 8.40am. Only 10 minutes were left so we decided to stay in the class instead of going to the lab. Then we chit-chat. And TPS was delaying again because all of classmates.....well....most of them were late for the class. Luckily OSM didn't care. Then....Physics. My teacher started to teach 2.9-Resolution of Force. That subtopic had all of just shocked and our mind spinned. Forming a triangle from a diagram was something we weren't familiar with. She was going very slowly, and she advised us to take it slowly because that was one of the difficult topic in Physics. Then I thought, what would happen to SHE's students, since she didn't even bother to teach at all?

On Thursday, most of us were praying and hoping that MSegara would be absent. But our prays were ignored by our god. I hate his lessons!!! BORING!!! Then we had Biology, which really stimulated my nerves because we were talking about foods (call me a glutton or whatever, I just love foods!). Then essay writing. I like to write essays, especially English and Chinese. So I wrote an exceptionally long essay which later I found out of the topic...

On Friday, another Physics lesson. We were still in 2.9. This chapter was principally about triangle and trigonometry. And my teacher was going very, very slowly, and many of my friends had been worried about their mid-term exam. I said I'm fine with exams, as long as I got A+ in SPM. But I guess that would be almost impossible.

Saturday.....activity. The activity conducted was tiring. Water was drained out from my body and my bones were labouring to keep themselves in a fix position, but to no avail. I shouldn't be part of the sukan parade. We shouldn't be part of it. I hate it! But I'm quite happy that I'm no longer the headmarker. Haha. xD
.
Oh. Check this out: http://chowyl-pjs.blogs.smjk.edu.my/ It's our school BC panitia's blog (CYL, check the school magazine if you don't know who she is). I really admired her for having such a good chinese. She is almost a professional and if I haven't seen the blog was actually under our school, I would have thought the blog belongs to a China Chinese. She is now teaching form 6 chinese. Just for your information, it's not easy to teach form 6 Chinese and there are not more than 1000 students take Chinese for STPM. I really admired this teacher for her chinese. I wish I could have what she has.

OK. That's all for today. No more yelling or lamenting because I'm now in a good mood. The picture above is not pertinent to what I wrote. It's just a decoration for my blog. Just ignored it. (^_^)

Mole

Chemistry is now one of the subjects I hate the most. TPS has just started teaching about the mole concept. She's going very quickly, and I have trouble following her. But then slowly everything begins to sink in. I'm having a lot of spaces for the concept to sink, I just need more time so that it can sink permanently...I mean...I'm bringing it to form 5 and probably university, ain't I right?

Call me a numskull, but mole concept is a piece of byzantine chemistry concept for me. I'm still struggling with it. Labouring with chemistry is something I will never fail to lose. I love Physics and Biology more.

By the way, TPS is not a punctual person. Yesterday we had Chemistry lessons and it was the last two periods. The bell had rung but she kept on giving questions. And although she had only delayed for 5 minutes, all of my classmates had been dumped by their bus uncles and aunties. They missed their bus! All of them! And as a result, they all lined up to make phonecalls. Pity them.....

Should I register for David's tuition? I am quite bored, and I have heard how good is David's english. They say he specialised in English, and he opens tuition centres for students who are facing 1119 and also O-level. I have seen the results of his students (I have to say, his act of listing his students' name and their results and distributing the paper around makes me think he is kind of cocky and maybe he just thinks that he is indeed a good teacher) and I'm kind of interested about his tuition, especially when I know how bad my english is. Maybe he can save my english. I'm ambivalent about that.
