Leadership Camp, Day 3

I woke up earlier than the day before--5.45am. I wasn't very tired the previous day so I woke up without feeling lethargic anymore. I took my toothbrush and brushed my teeth, but I didn't shower because it was inconvenient and it didn't need to do so because we were about to sweat again.

First thing first--the aerobics. Just another silly activity. Then breakfast, another box of inedible noodles. This stuff I felt better eating than, probably I had just accustomed to eating inedible foods. Then, those who thought themselves to be qualified to win the best campers award were called forward to introduce themselves. Some of them were thick-skinned. They knew they weren't qualified but yet they stood out and introduced themselves. Kind of pity them. They should have dignity.

Then the next activity: Treasure Hunt. We were told that there were 10 hidden treasures around the school, and we were free to search around, in one condition: be back in the hall by 9.45am or we would face our comeuppance. We had an hour to look for the treasures.

The game began on 8.45am. So we all went around (in groups) the school to look for any clues. So we were like dogs scavenging around. We picked up whatever we found, ironically everybody picked up rubbish and unfold all the papers they found. That might be the first time everybody had been so hardworking on cleaning the school compound. And yes, I was being sarcastic.

We ran around the school like wild dogs. We went to meet our faci-s (abbreviation of facilitators) and tried to sweet-talk them into giving us clues. But the decision to believe in what they said was totally depended on us. Whatever they said might be true and might also be false, therefore its reliability was not 100%. But most of us thought that it might be more sensible to listen, whether true of false, to what they said, it was better than running around without anything.

So we looked around the school until 9.45am, and the result--nothing. Surprisingly only one group managed to uncover one of the hidden treasure, and that was the first group. But their prizes weren't attractive, only 2 bottles of 100-plus and few 555 notebooks.

Then we had a speech given my Michael Teoh, a well-known Malaysia. He specialises in things about youth. He has given speech in a lot of top universities all around the world. His story was titillating although I realised people around me had dozed off. The way he gave the speech was unique (a mixture of Hokkien and English) and adding to his gesticulation, he made me think he was energetic and was confident about himself. I enjoyed his speech the most.

After that we had money-counting. The result was sealed.

Then we had lunch, our last very lunch there. Then we bathed and began to arrange the tables in the classrooms. After that we all took our luggages down to the hall, where everything was about to come to an end.

We went out groups by groups to take photos, and as you can see, my picture above looked silly and hideous. You can't blame me. I know I looked unkempt but please tolerate with it, I hadn't learnt to comb my hair. In fact, my hair has never grown to an extent that I have to comb my hair. Ignore my teeth.

Then we had another photo-taking. All of us (300+students) and faci-s stood at middle (you know that place) and took the picture. I was pretty sure my face was covered and I think I covered JJ's face (did I?). After that we were given forms. We were asked to fill the form and tell them the pros and cons of the camp.

After that the music started, and everyone in the hall went high. Suddenly 200+ students began to mix together and play happily, wildly, and I was pretty sure the residents around the school have gone berserk by the noise we made. Did I mention we were complained earlier in the morning? A resident came to the gate and told us to shut our mouth, but in a polite and indirect way. Pity them too because they had to endure cacophony of noises, particularly early in the morning at 6.00am and late in the night at 12.00midnight.

Everyone was enjoying their last moment, including me. After that groups by groups left the hall and went home.

I was smart. I knew they were going to delay (punctuality never exist among those people) so I told my mother to come later than the time stated. And they wasn't punctual (like it hadn't happened before).

So overall the camp was quite interesting, to me the rating is 7/10. 1 mark deducted because I'm bored for quite a long time, and 2 marks deducted from the debate.
