Year 1, Sem 2

I am now back in Sarawak, ready for the commencement of new semester.

I have deliberated arranged my timetable so that I am extremely and ridiculously busy on Monday and Tuesday, and largely free on the other days.

I will have also a very busy semester because to maintain my current scholarship, I need to get a full 4.0.

So pardon me if I have been unaccounted for for a very long time.

That being said, it's time to get busy. Bye.

  1. Greetings, teenblue. May I ask, what kind of scholarship you're entitled in Swinburne University? As far as I know, there isn't any scholarship awarded to STPM students, I got this news from my school's councilor(in my school's education fair) and that was like 2 years ago I suppose. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Another asinine question, is it better to opt for PTPTN loan and later convert it to scholarship under the condition that one obtains a first-class honours, or, get a scholarship right away from the university itself without having the PTPTN? Which is better, the former or the latter? And what are the differences between those two?

    Thanks in advance.

    1. I am entitled for its Academic Excellence Scholarship, which is a deduction of RM4,000 off for first year. It ain't much but it's still better than nothing.

Considering the amount of scholarship it gives, it is in my opinion that PTPTN is much better, provided you study well and ensure it becomes scholarship. My family financial condition is quite good so I don't opt for PTPTN. Anyway, majority of people would say since it's our (taxpayers' money), so why not?

Swinburne Scholarship is a scholarship that is given by the university and may be terminated if the requirement is not met. The amount of money you are entitled is depended on the university. While PTPTN provides much more financial aid and is normally continuous unless unforeseen situations arise. And if you perform well in your exam, PTPTN would be converted to scholarship, which if it does occur it worths much better than the university's scholarship. However, do note that PTPTN is not valid for overseas, meaning if you decide to go other countries for twinning programme, PTPTN is not able to cover for it.
